First session using a freestanding target...it was much more spectacular than I had anticipated!

Tycho and I have been working on this behavior in little bits and pieces for several months now. He was doing very well at touching one hind leg at a time to walls, tires, and pretty much anything else I asked him to back up against. More recently I have started asking him to do the trick next to a person, which will eventually be the trick called "what do you think of so-and-so?"

  • I just watched this again, and I'm laughing so hard my eyes are watering! he is so darned cute! This is an all time fave.

  • @billie84105 *I* can hardly believe that this was almost two years ago! And...this has become something of a default behavior if we're just standing around talking to someone. Oops. Guess I need to work on full stimulus control. :)

  • What a great idea to use that target! I have two of those and had not even thought of this. I also took the cyberagility and wish I would have known that you had videos of your dog doing the lessons. That would have been so helpful. One of our best friends is a border terrier so it is fun to see your dogs. Thanks for sharing what you do so well!

  • @azmauigirl As I noted in the description, I had been working on this trick off and on for a few months before I thought to use the target. What a "duh!" moment once I pulled it out. :)

  • This is amazing, as well as very entertaining. I think I'm going to try this with my Parson pup.

  • Just remember to start small, and take your time!
