The historic Seaboard Airline Drawbridge near Mahrt, Alabama. Built by the Seaboard Airline the bridge served as a rail connection between Georgia and Alabama. Now owned by the State of Georgia.
The structure is currently leased to the Heart of Georgia Railroad with no immediate plans for restoration of train service.
Video by Wellsboro, PA railroad executive Brian P. Roslund.
Very nicely done video and music, a fitting tribute to an amazing structure. I just got back from Georgia and was lucky to have found my way to the bridge. A two-mile dirt road and a walk through dense growth got me to the railbed. Footing on the rocky vine-covered embankment was precarious, but I got good photos. It was dusk and the scene was so still and silent, almost surreal. Well worth the effort. Thanks for posting!

Pretty neat! I remember seeing GSWR passing over this bridge in the early 90's. They used to block the highway on the Alabama side and we would need to wait for them to turn on the wye..
