It's true. When you buy a mac, you're not buying a phone or a computer or a weird pad thingy - you're buying a little piece of the apple brand image to wave about and define yourself by. This has been profitable for apple because it encourages people to extend the habit of shopping by name brands that many rely on when shopping for clothes or other personal items. It's encouraging people to lose sight of practicality in favor of aesthetics when parting with their money.
