There's a great piece of marketing advice that goes something like this: if your mother doesn't like it, you're probably wrong. After all, what you do in this industry is only as good as the response it elicits from real people.
So, we decided to send our eager intern, Brook, to the busy sidewalks of Toronto to ask those with an unbiased consumer perspective about some hot button marketing issues. For our first endeavour, we surveyed pedestrians on the controversial packaged banana initiative being taken by Del Monte. (http://www.fusemg.com/articles/a-bag-for-your-banana)
How do consumers feel about the creation of seemingly unnecessary packaging? Do they buy into the environmentally beneficial claims? Will our intern make them uncomfortable with his pressing interview tactics?
The short answers are, in order, angry, no, and yes.
