is there a way to connect android to arduino via wire? I want to do a project where the phone will send serial data to arduino, but bluetooth, althought great, wastes phone battery and for my project, is not needed. So does anyone know if this is possible?

What is the app you use called?
Thanks

Or maybe I should be asking have you tried it? Also thanks for the video, I like that you waste no time when it comes to new toys. I'm also interested in the GUI and if it is stock or your own, and if you can program from your android alone or need PC connection. Thanks in advanced for any answers.
Yes. Before creating the video I uploaded the demo sketch onto the Arduino baseboard that came with the kit (a slightly modified Arduino Mega2560). The demo sketch included the basic IO functionality for the Android Demo Shield. Also in the video is the DemoKit app that also came with the ADK. You have to compile it all yourself so the source examples are right there.
You'll need a pc/mac with the Android SDK and Eclipse and the Arduino software. See a.android.com for all the details.
