Thanks Mike! After leaving you the message earlier, I starting looking for other info and found exactly what you just described on several web sites. I'll be driving down from Virginia and this sounds like the perfect spot to watch the launch and then explore after the launch. Thanks again for the info.

Great video! I'm planning to go down to see the next launch on April 5. Do you recommend this spot over Space View Park in Titusville? If so, where did you launch your kayak? How early before the launch should I arrive to have plenty of time to get parked and then paddle to Haulover Canal. Your comment about not having a million people in your face makes this spot seem more appealing.

@behiker,
DEF go here instead of Space View Park. I launched from Haulover Canal, turn right JUST before the bridge & follow the dirt path to the end. Thats the launching site. Paddle through the canal to Mosquito Lagoon & sit back! The water is very shallow & the treeline blocks a lot of the wind. The view is great, the shuttle comes kinda towards you & the flight path looks much different than from Titusville. Try it, ENJOY!

Hey Mike. Thanks for the e-mail heads up. I haven't watched a shuttle launch from the Allenhurst Bridge (Haulover Canal) in twenty years -- very late on a bitter cold winter night! Still looks pretty remote -- especially if you're there by boat and especially with night coming on. That busy SSE wind was right in your face, but it probably brought you more sound than we had over in Titusville for this one (even though the distance to the pad identical). Again, big thanks!

Thanks! This was my first view from there, I went out on kayak to the end of the canal & stood in the shallows of the lagoon along the tree line to avoid the wind, it was actually very calm. It was much louder than in Titusville (as you can tell), not sure why but I'm sure the wind had something to do with it... no regrets about choosing this spot, especially since there wasn't half a million people in my face!
