For everyone who has been waiting for either a new concert, or waiting for Monterrey 1981 to appear--here is your gift! You can thank thebiggestqueenfan for giving me the idea to completely REMASTER this concert! Originally, this concert was available on a fairly poor audience recording, but thanks to some wonderful work by the members of Queenzone, I have tracked down the incomplete radio broadcast, and the audio from a video (for Bohemian Rhapsody)! I spent a few days mixing all the sources together, and remastering the sound (the broadcast was too sharp in the high end, while the audience source needed some all-round EQing). In conclusion, we have the complete Monterrey 1981 concert (albeit with some minor cuts throughout) with three sources being used!
Queen play an excellent show--with many wonderful musical moments: Like the awesome Now I'm Here improv (with references to Under Pressure), the excellent performance of Another One Bites The Dust (with the first reference to Back Chat in the improv section), and the overall atmosphere (the crowd is awesome)! Freddie's voice is in excellent shape on this concert, and delivers a WICKED version of Somebody To Love (with awesome phrasing, and high notes galore!), an awesome Killer Queen, and one his best vocal performances of We Are The Champions (he hits both Bb4s in the verses, and gets the C5 in the first chorus)! Other worthy mentions are Let Me Entertain You (Freddie hits all the high notes in the chorus), Play The Game (nails the bridge), and Another One Bites The Dust (he gets the B4s in the chorus parts)!
ENJOY!!!
