  • Hey Dude change the picture! this song must have some trippy colours on it.

  • as much as i love hearing this, boy does it sound different from the vinyl in terms of mixing! i'm so used to the vinyl version, it sounds much better to me. but a fantastic song nonetheless...

  • popochis

  • a wonderfully soulful psychelic song. it always moves me. ron bushy lets lee dorman take the lead and punctuates tastefully. doug ingle foregoes his usual mannerisms and sings it straight and contributes an incredible organ solo at the end. it could mean anything you want it to mean!

  • I believe this is a message to a girl who thinks she has found a steady boyfriend, whoever, the boy isn't interested and she will be left alone, her dream unfulfilled. Just listen to the words. The guy comes into her life like a spinning top, but then leaves her alone.

  • I have Heavy, Ball, and In a dadda da vida right here in my kitchen to play on the record player - great stuff.

  • Bela Beast is Iron Butterfly! Heavy & soft before their time. Lee Dorman (bass) very underrated. Eric Braun I believe he was 17 or 18 when he wrote this song.

  • i found this album on vinyl for a buck recently and had my mind thoroughly blown away. it's been on repeat ever since. the guitar/organ interplay is astounding, and excellent musicianship all around; groovy interweaving bass melodies, fantastical organ, beautiful guitar, heartfelt and soulful vocals and lyrics... how inspiring! it reminds me of the whimsical land i pretend i live within in my head...

  • I was listening to a personal compilation (Japanese reissues (1954-1993)) in my 2007 Mini Cooper S and this melodic GEM popped up:

Belda-Beast - Iron Butterfly [San Diego, California] - 1969 - "The most melodic song on this album. Erik Brann (aka Erik Braunn) does the guitar work in this song." - Ball (Mips) [Import] (Victor Intertainment, Inc Japan)-2006.

NOTE: This Japanese reissue is by far the best sounding one to get!

  • @OBSysteme Gotta be groovy :).
