I found this amazing thing by John Horton Conway called the Life Game. Heres how it works:
There are dead squares, and live squares (dead ones are black, alive ones are white). You can place alive ones wherever. If the live square is touching one other square or none at all, it dies of loneliness (poor thing...). If it is touching 4 or more other squares, it dies of overpopulation. If it is touching 2 or 3 squares, it lives! Yay! Also, if a dead square is touching exactly three live squares, it comes back to life. Somehow.
Some of the designs and patterns you can make (and have been made) are simply amazing. I show some of my favorites in this video.
You should definitely download the program. Its called Golly: http://golly.sourceforge.net/
I wonder what would happen if we put Game of life on a supercomputer with a playing field trillions of tiles wide.

Golly is great because it calculates everything extremely fast (GPU!) and has many very huge examples!
I programmed a Game Of Life too, but I sadly don't know how to use the GPU with Delphi :-(
I've also made a video of it!
