Three passes of Steve Clukey's Duster at the Jet Cars Under the Stars race at New England Dragway August 7, 2010. Steve (Stick Man) Clukey is the original owner of this 1970 Plymouth Duster. This is a new small block 340 Stroker motor pulling 753hp on the dyno, and he went with a Lenco 4 speed for the first time ever this year. Steve's Duster had special options for the marker lights that would become standard on the 1971 Duster. About a month ago he pulled a wiring harness out of the junkyard from a '71 Duster, and bingo...all the lights are working now! The 9.23 is the quickest the car has gone with the new combination ytd. The paint job is from Steve Cultrerra from Kittery Me, the same guy who crew chiefed for John Montecalvo's Moutain Motor Pro Stock.

Rob, Is the car supercharged, or using NOS? or is this all motor?

  • @11jimcleveland This is all motor baby! The end of the year he went to Canada and ran 9.03! I can't wait to see that in the 8's!

  • During the mid 80s, I used to occasionally (mostly Wed night grudge matches) run a low 12 sec 70 Challenger 440 at New England Dragway. On Sunday's; a darker blue Duster 340, 4-spd used to run in the 10sec pro bracket. The Duster guy used to always hang out with a guy than ran a Challenger T/A in heavy eliminator (orange automatic) category. The Duster's trailer & the Challenger T/A (tow bar & free wheeling hubs) both had Maine reg. plates. Just wondering if that's the same Duster 340 ?

  • random question! if you were to sell this car, how much would you sell it for?

  • @robzneed4speed

That's awesome, Rob - thanks for the quick response. 4 speed too. very nice!

  • man that car runs great!!! How many cubic inch is that 340 motor. what cylinder heads, cam, intake, carburetor, crank, rods, pistons does it have.

  • Wow, nice wheel stand despite a but load of wheel spin on the launch.

  • nice. i am a second behind. but i love that launch. i just do not see my self spending the money on the 9s. (i say that now anyway LOL)

  • Just wondering how much the car weighs.

  • I see this car run at NED just about every time I'm there. I remember watching this car there back in the mid to late 80's. Steve goes a little quicker and a little faster each year. Always a pleasure to watch.
