I know Alan Johnson's work, it is awesome. A true craftsman.

@theshadow1932 Louis B. Mayer was the highest paid man in the country in 1936 and one of the biggest cheapskates. His contract with Lowes INC that owned MGM was they had to provide him with a car ( Chrysler Imperial ) driver, and 5 new suits per year as part of his contract.. He died in 1957 a multimillionaire because he rarely spent money.

@jvarela965 Yeah, I'm sure he ran into a lot of those in Beverly Hills!

This is just amazing! What craftsmanship! What a steady hand! Diamond cutters and glassblowers have nothing on this man! Does anyone know if the faux cane work done on some Rolls Royce bodies from the 30s was done by hand or another process?

I was told that the car was a gift from her.

Alan Johnson and Clark Gable were buddies back in the day?
Duesenbergs still turn heads! Beautiful cars.

Gable gave the car away when Carole Lombard died because it was her favorite car and could not bear to look at it again. Given the state of affairs in the country in 1936 I cannot imagine driving this big cream colored car past poor people selling apples on street corners. I am surprised the brass at MGM let him buy it. They used to control every aspect of the stars lives.
