Tipu Sultan Funeral. Please Note: The subtitle at 33 seconds should read "There is no God but one God" it has been mistranslated.

On the next day, at about four 'o'clock, the Sultans funeral procession started and was followed by prince, officers and four companies of the British army. The faithful wounded soldiers of the Sultan and other persons were ahead and were holding the sultan on their shoulders. There was lot of fear and terror in the city due to looting and plundering which took place in last night. Streets and bazaars were vacant. When the funeral procession left the Fort all men, women and children from all the communities joined it with heavy heart. On the way, the number of people increased and their fear and terror decreased gradually. They were considering themselves the most unfortunate people and were thinking that the Sultans corpse is their guard. The men of Srirangapatnam wept loudly and women untied their braids in grief of the Sultans death. When the funeral procession left the Fort, the wind was very slow and there was too much humidity in the atmosphere. The people were watching a dangerous storm on the horizon. After some time a black storm covered the entire sky. When the procession reached Lal Bagh and the qazi finished the funeral prayer, the corpse was placed respectfully in the grave. At that time there was a severe thundering in the sky. People were very afraid of it. The British army ordered for the gun salute but the sound of the guns was not heard clearly because of the thundering in the skies. It seemed that the sky was making arrangement to welcome the soul of the great, Tipu Sultan.

The darkness in the atmosphere and the thundering of lightening increased, the houses and doors started shaking in the city. General Meadows, Major Beatson and Ellen had descried this black storm in their diaries in which they had written that lightening had fallen on some parts of city of Srirangapatnam as well on the British army camp of Bombay in which two soldiers were dead and a large number of soldiers were severely wounded. The treacherous, who were in the procession under the custody of the British soldiers, were very afraid of this. Immediately after the funeral started the heavy rain and the streets and bazaars of Srirangapatnam were full of water. After some time some officers and soldiers of the Mysorean army took notice of the flood in the river Kaveri. An old army officer wept loudly and said, I have not seen such a flood in the river Kaveri in the first week of May ever in my life. Oh Treacherous of Mysore!, you should have waited for one more day as God was willing to help us but you have missed that chance. On that day if you had not opened the doors of Srirangapatnam then we could have defeated the enemy without wasting one single bullet. He then said, Oh! My friends, for this day the Sultan was waiting. How unfortunate we are that the clouds which would have witnessed our success, they are now washing the tears of our defeated soldiers.

  • WHOEVER DID THIS TRANSLATION IS TO MAKE IGNORANT PPL MORE CONFUSE AND MISINFORM ABOUT ISLAM

  • Why this wrong translation is been given on this clip. who is that idiot who made absolute wrong translation of first article of deen-e-Islam ?! TRUE TRANSLATION GOES SOMETHING LIKE " There is no god(s) but one and only (true) God, and Mohammad (pbuh) is messenger of God

  • there was no god but our god WTF TYPE OF RELIGION IS THIS

  • aaah ...i was in K.G that time ....old days ....

  • @786swe, akbar was sunni muslim and he also subscribed to Sufistic views he had great faith in khawaja moin-uddin chisti ,he was not secret hindu he destroyed many temple so he cant be hindu, real akbar the great was not was not that great as he made out to be by many historians.

  • @786swe Shahjahan for his architectural quest subjected is his subjects to very harsh taxes, but maintained his religious tolerance in footsteps of Akbar( Outwardly) by not imposing Jezia & Pilgrimage tax on Hindus. The last nail in the coffin was Aurangzeb, known for his religious intolerance, imposed Jezia,Pilgrimage taxes & demolished Hindu temples & shrines on large scale.I don't see any relationship in building of some monuments & recovery of empire.

  • @786swe Akbar's guardian Behram Khan was a Shia, his mother Hameeda Bano was a daughter of a Sindhi Hindu convert, his close associates,Birbal,Raja Todarmal, were Hindus, his queen Jodha Bai was a Hindu Rajput, who performed her daily pooja( Hindu worship) in royal palace, forbidden in Islam. So Akbar was in midst of too many beliefs, always confused about the 'Ultimate Truth'.He introduced a religion called ;Deen e Ilahi', which perished with him.

  • @alexsteelxxback What did Akbar practice? Sunni Islam or Shia Islam or was he a secret Hindu?

  • @NANDIKHANNA Wanna hear my personal theory? In Shah Jahan's time, India became the leading exporter in textile but because he spent so much money building Taj Mahal, the empire became on the verge of disintegration. His successor tried to save it, probably making some wrong moves in the process (I am referring to his harsh treatment toward the Hindu subjects), but the empire wouldn't recover. has Shah Jahan not been a lover boy in mourning and focused on getting newer technology...
