Sorry, do not agree. while I'm more 'in it for the music' I do think Paul was a very important ingredient to the dynamics of FGTH.. just look at the expressions of Peter Gill in this great vid...

All I can say is Holly was great, Paul was a worthless git. but then again so are most of the bands out today. Agreed, these guys quit when they were ready to take the world, if they had stayed on, they would be as big as U2 or Depeche mode. Maybe , I mean, without Paul, all he did was dance, uh, ok, ....

I hear you on that one. "New Wave" really evolved into the club music of the 90's and today. Production teams and individuals like Way Out West, Paul Van Dyk, Rich Dekkard, Sasha, DJ Tiesto, and The Crystal Method all were inspired from that era. I do miss the vocalists of the 80's, but I do like how people have pushed the envelope in terms of technology. The hard trance (or epic trance, take your pick...hehe) stuff is quite cool.

you forgot to mention; Human League, Thompson Twins, Heaven 17, Ultravox, New Order, A-Ha, Real Life, Blancmange, Soft Cell, Dead or Alive, Gang of Four, Love & Rockets, Yaz, Xymox, ABC, Duran Duran and lastly THE CURE. not to mention the endless one hit wonder acts. Its not so much that rap has ruined music today, the bigger concern is where has all the singers gone? original singers! new wave was a gem of a genre with so much talent its a shame I wrongly thought it would only get better

Thanks for the "original era" comment. The 1980's were just that, original. Electronic music was brand new, and so many people used it in different ways...from Trevor Horn to Alphaville to Depeche Mode, and so on and so forth. The younger generation rarely gets it, they actually think people like "P-Didy" or Jay Z are great "artists"...sad. Just out of curiosity how old are you?
