Isn't actual waterboarding worse than this though? I was under the impression that they are put vertically, head-first into water until they drown but are then resuscitated afterwards.

This guy got pneumonia from the contaminated water entering his lungs after he vomited, and when he went to the doctor a few days later, he was told that he would have died had he not sought treatment and heavy antibiotics. Don't think that's torture???

@PRIMEx420 As a person who has been waterboarded twice, once for compensation, second as a demonstration, I can definitely say that it is torture; and you are correct that the panic induced by waterboarding comes from the property of suffocation, though the inhalation of small amounts of water is extremely uncomfortable, and results in gagging and convulsive coughing. That being said, in certain situations I believe that certain forms of torture are permissible.

@TheIceElf who cares what you think? oxygen-deprivation has been a torture for many centuries. just because it has a new name doesn't mean it's suddenly no longer torture. have someone hold your head under water for a while, and then whatever you think afterwards will at least be an informed opinion, instead of something you pulled ou of your ass. so far everyone who's had it done says its torture. maybe you'll be different, or maybe you'll just drown in the process.
