Some would blame this on the disadvantages on paddleing a playboat, others, the paddler

  • Rodeo2009, the reason you should not stand up in whitewater is due to the risk of a foot getting trapped between rocks or other underwater items. This could be extremely dangerous.

For the numbnuts who have been posting spam up, the tittle of the video is "how not to..." ie, the point of posting was as a learning experience, how not to do it, both the safety and the boating so people can learn from it.

I do like the way that the posters giving spam have no video's of themselves doing better.

  • was dat the river teign teignmouth /shaldon ? is so were about?

  • It the River teign, sorry about the spelling.

I am not sure extually where it is, but about half way down the top section. I think it is listed on the UKRGB website, it should have all the details on there.

  • did he ever get his kayak back

  • yes, of course, we had plenty of saftey set up

  • deary me that could have been so much worse!

  • When he's upside down getting trashed and someone throws a rope in there, there's a good chance that he could get tangled up in the rope... just watch the rope in the video, the bag just keeps recirculating. You can see it go all the way around him. If he had been upside down that rope could have been around his neck... just a thought

  • @rodeo2009 this isnt playboating

  • Never stand up in water over the knees. Foot stuck = a really bad deal.

  • Oops! That hole ate him :-) To all the other commenters...the title is..how NOT to run it...and this was an excellent example of just that! I'm great at being the bad example for kayakers, so I sympathize :-)

  • he should lean forward, not backward - than it would go better.

  • ur terrible at kayaking

  • im new to playboating and im wondering why he shouldnt stand up...?

  • HAHA! Run safety from upstream and pull him back into the weir you're trying to get him out of! Clever.

  • bad boating, bad safety, early rope toss and HE STOOD UP, cardinal rule number 1 for any whitewater activity. You guys give boaters a bad name with this vid.

  • is that Adrian Harkin
