David Poon, a third year medical student, desperately trying to find something he's good at.
This is a skit detailing all the wonderful lectures everyone in university sciences get as a treat for paying such high tuition. This was also focused on the University of Alberta Medical school where Poon attends, the year it was almost on probation for not having enough practical, hands on learning.
There are quite a few inside jokes regarding the UofA medical factor, and quite a few jabs at the Canadian medical school system.
Some explanations:
University of Alberta was almost on probation from the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) for not having enough 'practical' learning. So UofA compensated by reducing most lecture time by half. Mixed results.
HOMER is the UofA med online course curriculum program.
"Discovery Learning" is the UofA's ludicrous attempt at Self Directed Learning. It means 5 hours a week to study from books instead of professors. Inside a small room.
He's also hopeful he won't fail medical school for doing this.
This was performed at the "Med Nite" variety show at the University of Alberta
