The VTR 250 with the stock pipe has a nice V-twin growl down low, with overtones of postie bike as you get higher up in the rev range. With custom molded earplugs in, I can no longer hear the lovely rumble as I downshift approaching lights etc.

So I decided to fit a Staintune pipe, and here are the results.

I am tres happy. :)

PS, I'm normally ATTGATT but given I was just doing a quick run down the street I decided to be naughty. :o

  • oh my.. this 250 sounds so sweet with that staintune... rly nice!!enjoy!im thinking about getting me a new pipe for my old gs500,but id rather spare the cash for new bike - sv650 ))

  • @shit1986canniball thanks, I do love the sound. :) I dunno if a GS500 would sound that great with a pipe anyway so yeah, you're probably best saving the cash and putting it toward your next bike. THAT bike will sound SWEET with a nice pipe, though. :D

  • I am getting a 2011 vtr250. Would you recommend getting a staintune fitted. And what is the costs involved in nz dollar

  • @eddiedawkins1 if you want the sound and are prepared to pay for it and get no actual performance benefit then sure, I'd recommend it. But not otherwise. I'd guess it'd be $700+ NZD.

  • was this a muffler or a full pipe and how much was it?

  • @bodyboardmylife just a muffler, you cut the stock muffler off and fit this in its place. It comes with hardware to fit the original muffler again if you want. It cost about $700 inc. delivery to the shop I bought it at, from memory. They're not cheap and they give no performance benefit but I love the sound!

  • @bodyboardmylife sort of, but not really. The only thing about it is that if I sit nice and forward, my knees are actually gripping the trellis frame, not the tank. I haven't really encountered any actual problems due to its small size. I wonder if I tried to ride it really long distance whether I'd feel a bit folded up though. Plenty of tall people ride them with no dramas though so I'm guessing probably not - besides, that would be a very individual thing.

  • @yutokinemi a bit late now, but I'm 6"2 and I have one and it friggin rocks! :)
