@mgrovecoke forget the other half of the amendment? - it's pretty clear - the right of --the people (that would be everyone)-- to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed - the phrase taken as a whole implies that the people regulate (restrain ) the militia. and "the security of a --free-- state" being a result of a well (restrained) militia consider the times the authors of the constitution had just seen. - the people had to fight the king's militia.

I'm in Hawaii and the State already makes you register your guns and have a owners permit which has to be renewed annually. The medical records are being turned over to the state. Trust me, they want to do this nation wide!! Fight back while you can.
