Probably one of the most beautiful songs ever written. At the time the 914 Studios were run down when this was recorded but it turned out perfect despite how what the band thought about it back then. David Sancious was great on piano. Hard to believe Bruce wrote this when he was 23 years old.

A virtuoso song. Melissa Etheriges said Springsteen is Shakespeare set to music. RIP big Clarence. I guess Bruce is going to tour without you. I don't know how he is going to replace your virtuoso tenor sax.

Folks this is a nice way to sort of utilize a beautiful song to show images of NYC but lets keep in mind that the NYC that Bruce sang about here really no longer exists in reality and Spanish Johnny and Puerto Rican Jane and I lost our apartments on 57th St at the end of the 70s. The NY youre seeing here is not Bruce's NY.
