Extraordinary violin technique demonstrated. 3 or 4 strings being played simutaneously with a conventional violin bow and violin. Clearly demonstrated and explained by James Plattes. Instructional video. Enjoy the video and try the technique.

  • interesting, but don't have a spare violin/bow that I can try this with now.

  • @246trinitrotoluene You can purchase an inexpensive Chinese bow and try it.

  • James! If you do tutorial videos, think you could make one for this song ("Goofus", right?) ? I haven't been able to figure out the whole melody on violin, and I'd really like to use this bowing technique on that song because you made it seem so fun... so it would be a huge help!

  • @fiercelikebadger The melody is very simple.

  • The website for the Bach Bogen bow is up, but I sent an email 6 months ago and never received a return email.

  • You could do this with the Bach Bogen (bow) but it's not available as far as I can ascertain.

  • Funny! My old professor used to do it in class when he was in a good mood. :-)

  • Rare example of something that looks bad and useless but turns out to be awesome.

I guess JS Bach would love this.
