  • i got a 89 toyota pickup v6 3.0. it'z the same as the one your working on? i know yours is a 3.6 but it look the same.

  • No removing the radiator and no impact necessary. There is also a tool that compresses the tensioner by bracing against the water pump pulley. It includes a pin to insert through the hole in the tensioner piston to hold it back for re-installation. Pull the pin when the belt is back in place and you are good to go. Have one of those too.

  • Rock auto has a component kit with water pump, belt and pulleys for about $150. It has everything but the hydraulic tensioner. As far as the crank bolt goes, see 4x4wire.com for instructions on a shop made tool that uses drill bits in the holes of the crank pulley which inserted into holes drilled into a steel plate welded to a pipe for leverage makes a holding tool. I purchased said custom tool from some guy locally who had just done his and I'll sell it when I'm done if anyone is interested.

  • Never mind ha ha... Those are just the marks for installation... 4runner is running great thanks again for the video

  • Hmmm I'm having a big issue with my new belt. I have done all the steps provided in this video.... Sooo I have the new belt in place and have hand turned the crank about twenty + times to make sure no binding AND the marks still match up... In doing so I found that every time the marks come all the way around to their original spot on the cams and crank they have moved one tooth forward.... I need to know if that is ok or not before i put it together an fire it up... Everything seems fine but...

  • I left mine in.. it all depends on the condition of the existing ones...

  • Does that pair of $160 pulleys have to be replaced when changing out the timing belt just like the water pump? Or can I leave them in? Thanks!

  • First off thanks for the informing video it helped A LOT .... But I see a few people had problems with the crank pulley bolt... I had the same problem... An no auto part store in town was any help... I used an impact and blow torch...no luck... Knew there had to be a tool to hold it but only dealer had it...sooo I just pulled the starter and wedged the fly wheel with a screwdriver... Pain in the ass but i hope it helped...

  • hey bronco I need some help..... Traying to replace my timing belt on a 4 runner 93 the cam pulleys shift.... I put the 2 cam pulleys lingned up where the marks and the crank too but didn't start do not even crank ..i'll apreciative you help thanks..
