@TLJthethird Yes but doubt it HD DVD and BD are going to go extinct when download movies in faster speeds in HD happens

If Blu-Ray take over, something better will eventually do the samething. No product is immortal.

@MiiDylan I think he meant Blu-Ray PLAYERS work with both Blu-Ray discs and DVDs

@obbma4ler22 I use HDMI cables for my PS3 and also my HD camera. You may have a laptop that has HDMI out so you can show stuff on your laptop on your TV. That's good for streaming films, TV shows, etc

Do hdmi cords have a point if you don't have a game console or blu-ray player? any other use?

Nvm, didn't see end when i commented ;D

To see a good difference just pause the video.
Click 3 a few times, then 6 a few times then 3. You will see a difference in the text.
It would be useful to identify the difference when playing the DVD through a Blu-ray player (assuming you didn't do this) as I have found the upscaling that occurs to provide an image that is almost as good as Blu-ray.

@Chasmanp This test was preformed wit a Sony Playstation 3 which plays both DVDs and BDs. Even with the upscaling the difference between the two images is striking.

youtube doesn't do it justice

@PietroDimeglio No it doesn't. The video was taken with an iPhone, just filming the screen, then that video was compressed into a YouTube format. Despite all that though, there is still a very obvious difference between the DVD and the BD. In real life or course, that difference would be even greater.
