Simon Sawe three times CLICO Marathon Champion was gracious enough to speak to the Fun, Fitness & Friendship audience. Here he tells his story the story of a winner, how he did it, how the race was. He was very open and articulate in his delivery. He feels at home in Trinidad and is welcome and cheered on by the many spectators that line the streets to look at the race.
I think everyone who took part in the Clico, Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon enjoyed it, and pushed their bodies to the limit ... but i was a bit puzzled why Electronic Chip Timing wasn't used ... after all its used in the TTUTA 10K, the UWI Spec half-marathon etc, so one would expect that it would be used again at the Marathon ... Secondly, to start Registration 3 weeks before the race ... Not Good Enough Organizers ... lets strive to improve the running experience in T&T ...

Congrats to Simon Sawe on his 3rd victory at the Clico T&T International Marathon ... I agree with him when he says that the Caribbean runners need more exposure outside the region ... So many times i wonder why we dont see our guys represented at the bigger events like NY, Boston, Berlin, Dubai etc ... is sponsorship the problem ?? Then we as a running community need to put pressure on the local businesses to increase corporate sponsorship in the sport.
