Great sample of Kleiber's art. This must have been his last recording. It was made 7-12 January, 1956, and Kleiber died on 27 January.

Yes, this is the Kleiber who has a wonderful legacy, although one could wish for a bit, more breadth, in the opening bars (in the first minute, or minute and-a-half). The young Birgit Nilsson might be the real "star", in this excerpt of a finale, and she has, virtually, NO flaws whatsoever, with the difficult part. ... Thanks to Addiobelpassato for another, excellent upload!
