Cold start & revving my Ford Taurus SES 24V DOHC Duratec V6. Hitting rev limiter. Helps to have it in neutral.

  • If it happens only when cold, check your MAF sensor.

  • I think it would be easier to replace the sensor instead of taking apart the air intake duct, which is a pain, it that be the problem.

  • @cougarfan1341 oh ok i see what your saying lol

  • @brandonya1990 Yeah, I know they have rev limiters, I own an '01 SES, But I've never heard mine make snapping noises when it hits the limiter.

  • @brandonya1990 I'm aware these cars have rev limiters, I own a 2001 SES that hit's the limiter at 4k in neutral.

  • @cougarfan1341 No its the rev limiter, all the Taurus's have them when in park and Neutral, also like my car, when i hit 110mph, the rev limiter kicked in and wouldnt let me go any faster

  • why does it matter to have it in neutral?

  • wow, that sounds pretty bad, snapping at high revvs, bad combustion would be my guess
