I just finished reading it and thought it was okay. I felt at the end that something is missing. I felt that it was overrated or i was looking so forward to reading it that i overrated its potential. I did enjoy a little trying to figure out what happended with her family and stuff. I guess i just wanted to know how did the world get to the point it got to. With 1984 and fahrenheit 451 i could see our world going to there points but now with the handmaids tale.

@TheMaryweather I agree. I understand that she researched and the things that take place socially have all happened at various points in history around the world. I just didn't believe that *all* those things would happen at the same time in one society. And I feel it's overrated because of so many vague points in the plot. I agree w/ what you say about Farenheit 451, he shows why society is that way and it makes sense. I still need to read 1984!
