He isn't stupid, but it's geniune - Alan is the only one on the panel who refuses to look at notes before filming. So while everyone else has had time to think of things to say, Alan (and the audience) don't know what they're talking about until Stephen says it.
@turkosicsaba I'm Hungarian, I know how these work :) Stephen is usually very proud of his heritage, and at the same time, he fails so incredibly at pronouncing anything that has to do with Hungarians.
@ralesk 'ö' is the type of vowel described on Wikipedia as an "Open mid- front rounded vowel", usually written as 'oe', such as in the French word 'le'. So the word 'gömböc' is pronounced 'goemboetz'. It means "little ball" or "round blob".
