so this means that in a drag race it is actually the best to lock the wheels?

@kosterbryan Most often, yes. If you look at all-time drag cars, the differential is usually solid or semi-permanently full-lock. It has different names, but locking them together gives the most direct power transfer from drive train to wheels in a straight line.
