No. The original title is "Shivers". "Rabid" is a different movie. David Cronenberg directed both, though.

Loved the drive-in in the 70's. Roll up some sweet bud, get a hot pizza and large coke from concession stand, cool evening temp. i early summer, around 77 degrees with best girl next to you, best buds meeting you with their fine chicks and hot rods.

...HA HA HA HA!!!! I first saw this flick on Elvira and then rented it on home video. Its a definate personal favorite of mine wich Ide recomend to any arrant fan of cult horror cinema.

Saw this at Capital drive in San Jose CA it was on a triple bill the triple was BUG / SQUIRM / THEY CAME FROM WITHIN I had seen T.C.F.W. two weeks prior so I knew what was I store! This movie freaked me out for I was only 6 yrs old and use to seeing black and white monsters like Dracula and The Wolf Man sex orgy people itraped in a building was a little much. Interesting about O Bannon... I remember when The Fly and Aliens were out the same summer, and while Aliens' body horror isn't as extreme as Alien, there was a definite similarity...

I seem to recall the screenwriter for Alien (Dan O' Bannon) commenting in an interview that he had seen Cronenberg's film before he wrote his script, also the parasites in They Came From Within excrete acid much like the facehugger does.

Did it influence Alien? Perhaps, but Alien borrowed from a lot of different sources, using them all brilliantly of course.
