The Dalai Lama, describes war as "outdated" in an increasingly interdependent world.

The Aspen Institute and co-chairs Margot Pritzker and Richard Blum, in collaboration with the Conservancy for Tibetan Art and Culture, are proud to present a substantive symposium that embraces Tibetan and Himalayan art, culture, science, medicine, spiritual practice, and history.

The three-day program - featuring His Holiness the Dalai Lama as the keynote speaker - will bring together an extraordinary number of eminent scholars, teachers, practitioners and tradition-bearers from around the globe to shed light on the rich historical and philosophical significance of Tibet and its impact on global issues today - The Aspen Institute

Tenzin Gyatso is the 14th Dalai Lama. He is the head of the Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamshala, India. Tibetans traditionally believe him to be the reincarnation of his predecessors.

  • you are not path less :)

  • Somehow you are right so have to change our mind.

If people woull realze that we're all conected and interdependent, we are no more self-subsidizers only.

  • and yes one group of people depends on the other group to not destroy the environment for all. but again this problem can be solved with war better than with peace. if you kill the other group they will not pollute the environment anymore.

what advances peace is not the outer circumstances of our times, but the inner consciousness of everybody.

  • i disagree.

the interdependence of groups on people on other groups has not changed much and i don't see how it will change much in the future.

yes, there is more economic interdependence between states. but that often leads to war. like the USA are dependent on the oil of other nations. but that doesn't make them more peacefull. instead they take the oil by force, waging war on the oil rich states, and this might be the economically smartest strategy.

  • Wonderful points, succinct and compassionate. Thanks for uploading this. How important it is to see how we are only here because we are interdependent. It's not only a conceptual reality, but actual. :) Peace and being.
