NOTE: The very first horn blast at the beginning of the video is 949 blowing for Lakeview Ave, a full 2 miles south of me. Then you hear him blow for Commerce St, and then lastly for Steven's Ave before he finally graces your screen.

Metro North train 949 hustles through Hawthorne, NY enroute to Wassaic, NY. The begininng of the video while we "look around" you can hear the train blowing for Commerce St and Stevens Ave crossings 1.5 and 3/4 of a mile away before the train finally comes around the curve and into view.

  • worst quality i have ever seen

  • @pilotofa737

its pretty bad - but for a camera phone in early 2008 its not too bad.......

  • What kind of engine was that? Looked and sounded kinda like a P-42.

  • Here on MN all we have are P-32ACDM's. plus the P-40's we leased from Amtrak. This is a P32ACDM 'Fiberglass Doorstop".

  • Ahh so they're the little brother(s) of the P-42DC's! Cool!

  • kinda. same size, frame and (more or less) carbody - lower horsepower is accound of dual mode third rail gear.

  • Hey, I saw the exact same train (sort of) go through Bronxville. It's on my channel as "Metro North - Wassaic Express".
