In 1981, the classified ad-taking system at the Age in Melbourne was the world's largest newspaper system of its kind. It consisted of 10 PDP-11/34 computers networked together, roughly equivalent to about 10 personal computers 10 years 15 years ago. The large "washing machine" we were clowning about is actually a 300 Megabyte drive, considered huge in those days. Atex was the largest user of Control Data hard drives. I hurt my back swapping those monster drives.
great - worked with Atex J11's from 85 until 2001
