Harvey's Kitchen: The Greencards -- "Make It Out West"

Greencards aren't actually green. My first Greencard was pink. The current one is sort of a mucky brownish smear replete with biometric data and holograms. Carol Young and Kym Warner are both Australian. So it's sort of an interesting fact that in 2006 they received an Americana Award for "Best Emerging Artist." It wouldn't be the first time a foreign band latched on to what is considered a quintessentially American genre and ran with it. Since that time they've been Grammy nominated twice for "Best Country Instrumental Performance" and opened for both Bob Dylan (one of those performances we actually saw) and Willie Nelson.

Such great musicians, and such lovely people.

Since we've moved houses and it tends to get a bit claustrophobic recording in our kitchen (not to mention it hampering a good meal) we decided to venture out to the Blind Tiger at its new location on Spring Garden Street. I think it's the medium-sized venue we've been waiting for.

The Greencards have a new album on the horizon. The Brick Album. They have an interesting way for fans to patronize the band and if we had a few spare wooden nickels to rub together these days we'd also contribute.
