As time passes, it's easy to forget murder victims when considering the appropriate punishment of murderers. In this video, Tom calls for capital punishment as the appropriate response to the brutal and senseless murder of Chelsea King, which took place on February 25, 2010 in a park near where Tom used to live.

Are you God to decide who should live and who not?

Perhaps if the required legal standard for conviction in a 1st degree murder trial were that "all doubt has been foreclosed," rather than merely "beyond a reasonable doubt," I could politically support capital punishment again.

If someone is indeed guilty of murder with malice aforethought, I am in principle not opposed to capital punishment. However, I no longer trust the state to determine who is guilty and who is not. Government is so incompetent that I have to place my opposition to giving the state that much power (the power of life and death) above my theoretical consent to captial punishment.
