I like watching the ferry going to Staten Island

@PARIVISION This is TERRIBLE. I was in NYC trying to take pics of a building near Central Park...the biggest most beautiful building in NYC, and was also told I am not allowed to take pictures of the building. It is SICK that we cannot take pictures or videos of public places.

That's an average speed of 15 MPH. Considering the size of the ferry and the time it takes to accelerate and slow down, that's pretty good.
-
Umm ... because ferryboats don't go 65 MPH?
-
is the ferry big inside

I took the ferry on Friday, and took footage on my digital camcorder. I did the exact same thing you did on the way back, but this time in the dark. Thankfully I wasn't caught by any of the ferry employees.

I am a filmmaker from Staten Island. I have been making movies for well over a decade. On August 26, 2007 on board the ferryboat Marchi I was taking footage of the harbor for a movie I am working on. A ferry worker approached me and demanded I shut the camera off. I was told due to Homeland Security rules I was not allowed to tape on the boat and was breaking the law. This is nonsense. In response o that incident I reported that worker to the DOT, 311 and the ACLU.

Would you happen to know which ferry this is?
there's no reason to get off at Staten... even if you live there.

Actually, I suppose it's a security issue now. Last time I took the trip: Early June, 2007 they stated how everyone was required to leave the boat and then reboard.

They've always required passengers to get off the ferry and reboard. Was that way when I was a kid growing up in NYC.

Actually I can recall times being able to stay on.
