Our crew finally got back to digging. Permission was obtained for a pre-1860 property. Probing discovered 6 privy features. Testing indicated that 4 of them were already dug. The days work centered on exploring the 2 missed holes.
The pit in the front of the yard went from 1880 to1860, with most of the early material being removed by dipping. The pit in the rear, produced artifacts mainly from the 1890's.
When these were completed, the team moved to another location a couple of blocks away. There we obtained permission to explore 2 more pre-1860 properties. A couple of feet of fill in the yards made locating the privy features difficult to find. While we spent a couple of hours probing and testing, none of the holes could be found. While our crew is the best in the area, sometimes even the experts fail.
you should not have sent that dude to dig he is breaking bottles...

You say "The pit in the front of the yard went from 1880 to1860,"
How can that be? It went backwards 20 years?
