Report from the Werribee CFA:
"On November 28th 2010, large amounts of rain was for cast over the Werribee and Melton region. The Melton weir was let go, this caused major flooding of the Werribee River. The Ford was seriously overwhelmed by water. 2 metres over the bridge. Other places such as the Flood Way, and Werribee Weir were also badly flooded.
A young man, early 20's seeked a thrill, and attempted to canoe the rappids of the Werribee Street Bridge. Emergancy services such as the Werribee and Hopper Crossing CFA, SES and Williams Town Water Police were called in to assist the man. A two hour rescue mission resulted in the man being transported to Werribee Mercy Hospital with no injuries. Crowds of people watched as the Emergancy crews set up winches, and other rescue material to attemp to rescue the disstressed male. The man was interveiwed and said "I will try it again, nothing scares me." The man continued to say that Emergancy Services are supposed to be there to help, even if help is not wanted.

@joelgibbs14 thanks, it would have been better if i had a different camera, i only had my phone, the whole thing went on for about 2 hours starting from the first part of the video when he comes off the first time.
but Yea it looked like a big job! I have never seen a rescue before and for my first one it was pretty good. Everyone had something do - which is great to see. Thanks for being in the CFA you make a difference! xx
