@pequodman Goering, the fat slob, was an opium addict. He was completely corrupt. And, I do not see Germany's rearmament program as anything particularly skillful. They did it in broad daylight, so to speak. No one challenged them; one among the reasons is Germany was the only nation capable of keeping the bloodthirsty Russian Bolsheviks in check.

Alright, Nazis were Bad, Evil, Etc... That said; Goering was a VERY interesting man.  After surviving WW1 Air Combat he did what a lot of men do after surviving. They realize that they are Alive! Goering lived life to its fullest. Fine wine, women, gourmet, artwork, plus... He devoured life and loved the fine things. He got the taste of morphine and that eased his physical pains and allowed him to more fully enjoy his worldly endeavors. In the end he got what he deserved, but he DID LIVE!
