I'm from Bakersfield. Buck did a lot for the town, but Merle was the one we were all so proud of being from there. I would never go back to walk them streets, but I can google it now. Oh and say he is a bad ass white boy is NOT being racial, it is just a description, and it bad ass blonde, etc.

@lavenderscentable: Unfortunately, Buck Owens died of a heart attack on March 25, 2006 in Bakersfield. Since early 1990's he had reoccurring health problems. I heard Buck had written this song many years ago and as an act of friendship gave it to Dwight. They mutually admired each other.
Buck's positive attitude and influence will be missed.
