timing was really good, but for me the bunkai was the bog standard obvious ones. the more interesting are the movments inbetween the blocks, which are really breaks and locks :)
Wado looks to me like a nifty style, and at least Iain Abernethy knows a ton about bunkai; looks like he'd hold his on in a set-to, as well. The youngsters in this demonstration are doing the right thing; if you exercise when you're young, and keep it up, you stay flexible and strong when you're older. And since there are thousands of bunkai encoded in the kata, these are a nice sampler package of 'em. Keep up the good work, and keep training!
If you didnt know already, Karate already had jujitsu beended in before Wado. And if you couldnt see the jujitsu in this video then you didnt learn much in your 15 years did ya? Never underestimate direct and to the point applications, you can keep your fairy tale crane bunkai.
What rubbish! Wado has its roots in a blend of two separate styles & it would not serve the one by focusing purely on the other. How would you understand Ju-Jitsu by focusing on a pure style like Okinawan Karate Shito-Ryu? With the greatest respect this comment had no solid foundation of knowledge behind it.
However, I truly believe that the blend of Yoshindo Ju-Jitsu & Okinawan Te, in Wado Ryu qualifies it as one of the best Martial styles in the World. But to be able to achieve this you need to look deeper into its origins, & find its true roots.
Fantastic one!
