This video describes the work of Rod Serling to create a unique television series of short Fantasy/Sci-Fi stories for Television. I also mention the work of Marc Scott Zicree to create an excellent companion guidebook to the series.

  • Brian, I enjoyed this video. I'am a big fan of The Twilight Zone. I was probably about 8 or 9 when I saw my first one and it spooked me but I was hooked. Not only are the stories very good but the whole style, mood and music used in the shows are very effective and help to make this such a classic tv show of that period.

  • @Roolooth99 Hi Roo! Yes, I was like you, fascinated and scared at the same time! Haha! What I remember most were the powerful plot twists, or surprises at the end of many episodes. He often shocked us with the realization that "things are not always as they seem." Brian.

  • Ahh, love Twilight Zone. I also did not know about the companion, gonna have to find it!

  • @EvannRachel Hi you guys. It's always a pleasure to hear from other Twilight Zone Fans! Yes, the Companion helps you to appreciate and savour what you just saw. Highly recommended! Cheers, Brian.

  • Wow, Hawaii 5-0, Star Trek, National Geographic, and Twilight Zone? That's awesome! None of the new tv shows nowadays would even come close to that. TV shows were much more creative and awe inspiring back then.

I have to say, I've only seen a few Twilight Zone episodes because they kind of scared me when I was younger. I should really get back to it and start watching again!

  • @EmeraldxFairy Not only you, I think they scared all of us! : )

There were two series on television that really scared the Bajeebas out of me: Twilight Zone and Outer Limits! Thanks for commmenting on the intro themes. Weren't they great? I think it was TV's "Golden Age." No expence or effort was spared to really entertain back in those days. : ) Brian.

  • @EmeraldxFairy Hi ExF. Yes, the Companion fills in a lot of gaps. The story behind the production. It completes the whole adventure of watching the series. Brian.

  • I never knew there was a companion. That's very interesting and it must add a whole new dimension to enjoying the Twilight Zone series. Great vid!

  • @Tireon Hi Scott. It's a pleasure having you stop by. That's you and me both-the Twilight Zone was the first show I watched as a kid that really disturbed me too! Growing up very sheltered, I didn't really understand insanity and the supernatural. It was pretty intense, but memorable, to say the least! Now the episodes are just fun to watch. From an older perspective they become more amusing and campy. : ) Brian.

  • Yeah classic television and I remember being a bit unsettled by the episodes as a kid. I even disliked hearing the eerie introduction music. :)
