http://www.gamblinghelper.com Similarities between pathological gambling and chemical dependency include an inability to stop/control the addiction, denial, severe depression, and mood swings. Pathological gambling and chemical dependency are both progressive diseases with similar phases. These include "chasing" the first win/high, experiencing blackouts and using the object of addiction to escape pain. Both pathological gamblers and persons addicted to alcohol or drugs are preoccupied with their addiction, experience low self-esteem, use rituals, and seek immediate gratification.

Unlike chemical addiction, pathological gambling is a hidden disease gamblers do not stumble, have needles in their arm, or smell of cards and dice. Pathological gamblers cannot overdose in the conventional sense, but they experience tremendous financial problems that require immediate attention. More resources are available to chemical dependency than gambling addiction, in part because most people do not perceive gambling as potentially addicting. It is very important that pathological gamblers receive crisis stabilization at the beginning of their treatment, because pathological gamblers have a much higher suicide rate than persons addicted to alcohol or drugs.

  • whoever did this video clearly is only showing the bad side to gambling but there are many good sides as well alot of ppl make alot of money out of playing poker and alot of ppl play because they enjoy it as a hobbie only very few ppl like drink and drugs have a severe problem with it

  • @josephtan1818 Wow, sounds like a bunch of no lifers got together so they could piss off people who want to play slots and are trying to have a good time unlike no lifers who read and knit at slot machines.

  • I play lots and lots of poker at the casino. I've had my ups and downs, but what I enjoy about the game is the human interaction, the strategy, the excitement. It's very important to be careful with my bank account because I'm not rich, but am I addicted to gambling? How can I tell?

  • there's way to piss the casino owner: toying the slot machine. how to do it is u put the money into slot machine but u don't press the play button. there was about 70 people in a group doing this but they chit-chatting, knitting or reading then the casino owner called the police to escort the group leave the premise because the operator got pissed

  • EXCELLENT!

  • Great watch! Thank you very much, it helps ease the pain of today's losses and also helps increase the likelihood for me not to gamble tomorrow.

    Thanks again!

    Sincerely,

    Mike
