1986 Camaro IROC-Z28 with a roller block swap from an 89 RS. Modified GM 601 H.O. Heads, LT1 camshaft (b-car) , Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley carburetor, Headman shorty headers. Car has open exhaust and is untuned.

  • I love it when people waist money on 305's..... only good thing is all the parts will swap over to a 350..... By the way i have a bone stock lt1 trans am and the cam is nothing special lol

    Well it's not a "waist" if you get the parts for dirt cheap and already have a running 305. It's called hotrodding, you work with what you got. But you wouldn't know anything about that, you only have a bone stock, nothing special trans am. Hey you said it yourself, have fun with it ;)

    No because it has a flat tappet lifter cam and an LT1 is made for roller lifters.

    Because it's cheap to do and fun. Why do people put fart cans on their 95 hondas? Why do people do anything to their cars at all? Plus the look on someone's face after you beat them and all you have is "just a 305."

  • Oh yea, and man it sounds amazing. I love the sound, a little jealous. I know I do not have a video of my camaro and I need to get some but I have a 91 RS with 3.43 LSD, slight cammed 305 with an intake, and full headers back exhaust. As well as a T56 trans with low pro tires.

  • @xlelanolx You would have to buy the whole kit with lifters and I believe it comes with guides so they do not rotate.

  • @xlelanolx Agreed, a 305 with a simple head swap, and cam can produce an easy 350hp. It is fun to build 305 engines, power to ya man. I would have rebuilt and built up my 305 but I got my hands on a 406 so those plans went to the wind.

  • Investing in a 305 isnt that bad. Yes theyre are anemic in stock trim but its still a v8. These engines were born in the smog era and made to be efficient not for hp. Hp killer is the heads so swap em out for vortecs or aftermarket. Some build them because of budget reasons, but others build them because there sanctioning body restricts the racer to certain rules such as cubic inch limits. Ask that guy how he makes more power than the guy in 2nd place. He wont tell..but his machinist might ;)

  • @jakeyz333 Whats its purpose?? It has horrible hp (literally like 160hp and worst if its 20+ yo), weak torque, TERRIBLE gas mileage. It be stupid not to go to a junk yard, buy a old 350, build it and with the same gas mileage achieve 3X the hp and torque.

  • Ppl r stupid with the build the 350 its cheaper do the math a 305 that came in yer car free or buy a 350 that's unknown send to the shop 800 to get it right your at 1k be4 even putting a cam in. Or just put a cam in your trusty 305 if he had the money sure he would go lsx or turbo but he is working with what he got that's how hot rodding started

  • @xlelanolx Im sick of people bashing 305's. They really are great engines i got one in my 89 irocz and its great for what it is. I mean if it isnt broken dont fix it. its a great engine that serves its purpose extremely well
