Nice Old EMAIL meter from 1984 :), Ask your power co, It'd be a shame to destroy a nice aussie made meter, I got an EMAIL Meter Very Similar to that, which is part of my collection!, I use it for all sorts of experiments

We don't have mobile phones and I do not want a smart meter although I would protect your right to have one however i would expect that you would respect my right not to have one. This is a fredom of choice issue,if this is still a democracy then thier should be an opt out form, espescially for Rf sensative people like my mother who has a brain injury and lives with us.

we got a smart meter here in vic, it looks a bit different but to me looks like it has the same features, i was also suprised we only lost power for literaly 2 minutes when they installed it
dude. smart meters fill your whole home with 3g-4g wireless signals (radiation) through your home's whole wiring system. NOT good for human health (in a nutshell).

@theCosmicQueen This is Australia not America, we have standards, also 3g does not travel down the electrical cables. I have seen inside it, it is just a USB 3g modem. USA may be different.

Victoria's Auditor General found in November that low-income earners would be $150 a year worse off with a smart meter in their house but a recent Melbourne University study reported that figure could be twice as high.
A St Vincent de Paul study last year found the house-bound such as pensioners faced price hikes of 42 percent to $254 a year - 20 percent more than the average rise in bills. And the WA State Government estimated households would be slugged with a 25 percent rise .
Enjoy

How are you worse off when the smart meters are installed, as they are just recording the power and reporting, not fluctuating the costs. In fact my smart meter is 4cents a KW cheaper than my old meter.

Your not referring to the pre paid meters are you? This one is a replacement for the standard meter and i still get billed quarterly as per normal :S
