Naturopathic Doctors Lobby Legislators to get Licensed in New York. ND's argue they can fill the shortage of primary care physicians and save the state millions of dollars. Currently, doctors are leaving to set up practices in nearby states and patients are seeking treatment elsewhere. One patient, a 911 firefighter sickened at Ground Zero, credits naturopathic medicine for saving his life.

  • How can the comparison between fast food and healthcare even be made? It's like comparing pet food to healthcare. The only similarity is that at the end of the day, people make their choices. If people decide to spend their money on conventional medicine or natural medicine, it's a choice. If the decision is to choose fast food over cooking meals at home, that is a choice...but what does choosing to eat at a fast food joint have to do with choosing natural medicine?

  • @ITakeYourFood: claiming that naturopathic physicians are "not smart enough to get into regular medical school" is blatantly false. I'm a 4th year ND student at Bastyr; I had an undergrad GPA of 3.88 (Biology major), many of my friends were accepted into traditional medical school before beginning the ND program. And - you're using Futurama to support your point??? Sorry, you can't claim to be making the "logical" argument when you haven't done your research...

  • @peace1185 "Using an article on Wikipedia to support your point is rather.. "questionable"

Wikipedia has a much more reliable/neutral stance than what you or any other homeopath has. If Americans spend $34 billion on complementary/alternative medicine, it doesn't support your reasoning. Americans also spend trillions of dollars on fast food, so does that make fast food good for you? LOL

I'll leave you with a clip from Futurama on homeopathy:

    All bologna.

  • I think Naturopathic Doctors are wonderful and they really fill the gap on what is missing in modern medicine-PREVENTION. Using an article on Wikipedia to support your point is rather...how shall I say this..."questionable" in your own word. There is a reason why Americans spend $33.9 Billion out of pocket on Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2009. Let the free-market economy dictate how Naturopathic Physicians fit in today's healthcare!

  • @jedwing Ad hominem attacks. Makes sense from someone spewing/supporting such garbage/nonsense. Why so offended? If I don't know what I am talking about, then please try to enlighten me. Rather than wasting each other's time, just read the criticisms of naturopathy on the wikipedia article on Naturopathy & you will see where my arguments are coming from.

  • @SonoranMedicine I do not work at a pharmaceutical company. I would agree that education, prevention, & treating the actual cause of diseases(which is mainly a grain-based/overly carbohydrate based diet) are the keys which is an element of osteopathy. I don't want to go into a futile conversation as to why naturopathy is flawed, but all my arguments would be about questionable practices not stemming from science. You can read the wikipedia article on "naturopathy" to see what I am talking about.

  • @ITakeYourFood You are a jackass and don't know what you're talking about. End of effin' story.

  • @ITakeYourFood: I don't think you know many Naturopaths. The ones I've met have really inspired me to a new level of healing by changing my lifestyle and patterns of behavior and self-perception. I don't know how you can make a blanket statement about people who are trying to help others work through sickness. Naturopaths represent what is lacking in American health care: education, prevention, and treating the actually cause of disease on all levels. Do you work for a pharmaceutical company?

  • Naturopaths are the biggest quacks. They weren't smart enough to get into medical school, or even podiatry school, & now they're just trying to scam people with b.s. remedies. Btw, you guys are NOT DOCTORS OR PHYSICIANS. You just added that to trick regular people. Sheesh.
