rat cage i made for my pet rats

this is my rats new home i made for them from a book case it came out awsome n they love it!Ok I made this from a wooden bookcase I had,first I drilled holes with a 4 inch hole saw so my rats could climb from each section,I painted it ,then contact cemented linolium floor tile for the floor for easy clean up,added home made hammocks for their comfort,made a few houses too so they have places to hide made from recycled containers,most were large cans glued in several places of the cage,nailed on hardware cloth I got at ace hardware store,cut doors,and now my rats have a beautiful spacious home:)

How did you fit the doors on? I can cut and set up the bookshelf, but I don't know how to fit the doors on safely so they will not have sharp edges they may cut themselves on.

I used duct tape cut in half length wise, then folded it over the edges of the wire

What did you trim the doors with? We made a similar one out of a 9 cube storage unit. I just noticed your doors are trimmed though and think that is a great idea.
