  • @geniusdextera999 JUST like in the USA. Everything is a completely computer generated remake or sequel with scripts of no substance or no scripts at all and unfortunately it's come to a point where I've completely lost interest in new releases... as well as major network television.

No one studies real film making, no film makers put themselves into their movies, no actors becomes their characters, and the art of cinematography has been lost.

Harakiri was a near perfect film, leave it alone.

  • Anyone know when this is gonna be released in America? I'm still not sure how I feel about Miike-hated Audition and Ichi and the other torture-porn he's put out, but I thought 13 Assassins was up there with the best of samurai films. Masaki Kobayashi is my favorite Japanese director-terribly underrated and forgotten over here, and Hara-kiri is my fav of his films. Anxious to see Miike's take-apparently its painfully true to the original.

  • I watched the remake on a flight back to Australia. I thought it was a decent movie however, I haven't seen the original. I started watching the movie at about 5am and missed the ending as we were on our descent and within 10 minutes of landing. Aaagh!

  • @quantumdude Like they tried to do with Akira?

  • It's Koji Yakusho! But i wonder how the first one is...

  • Jeremy Thomas.

  • Cant believe the ''remake phenomena'' is hitting japan as well . Whats next ? Remakes of Kurosawa's best as well ? Its pretty sad :(

  • @oonsca-no shit. You can't fuck with Masaki Kobayashi's masterpiece. Its one of the few perfect films ever made. With a cast made up of the titans of Japan's second golden age of film.

I can understand making and remaking another Chushengura film (because that story is japans national legend). But this needles and useless remake shit is a bunch of derivative bullshit made by hipster lazy punks picking the bones of cinema's real heroes.

  • this looks pretty shitty compared to the true one.
