At an event held December 1, 2009 in Baltimore, MD, Rich Benjamin, author of Searching for Whitopia: An Improbable Journey to the Heart of White America, and Tim Wise, author of Between Barack & A Hard Place: Racism & White Denial in the Age of Obama, discussed white America's struggle to talk about race. The event was part of OSI-Baltimore's Talking About Race series, cosponsored by the Enoch Pratt Free Library. It addresses how we talk (or do not talk) about race from different perspectives and why it is imperative that we discuss this subject openly and thoughtfully.

Groups do not have rights; "White People" do not have a right to deprive "Black People" of their justly acquired property; "White People" do not have a property claim to entire countries and continents, and neither do "Black People". To seize the homes of minorities, force them onto ships, and send them to foreign lands is an act of aggression on a large scale, and therefore evil.

And the only reason this is a racialized society is becuz the white supremacist cultural traditon of this country. A tradition people like Jared and Duke want to continue.

the point was that Tim Wise works tirelessly to make sure whites don't care about their people, black people would call that behavior 'uncle Tomish', why would think that represents the thinking white man and woman?

@solargesture The Polish, Italian, Irish, Russian( on the European side) and French people have ALWAYS been white, that isn't propping up the numbers. Any native people on or from the continent of Europe are white; the Italians, Greeks and Spaniards were much whiter than they are now and that doesn't change all of the sudden because of invasions from the moors or slavery in the Greek and Roman empires.

the majority of whites DON'T live in high income areas, and the ones who do usually get that way by sacrificing the future of their family name and don't have children(blacks have the privilege to both have children and get richer).

Blacks actually benefit more from this society than whites because they can grow in number and still be upwardly mobile(which, in recession that is impossible without govt propping up blacks and other minorities)

@TheGentlemanGhoul I respectfully disagree. Pro black does not give you license to be a racist. Martin Luther King Junior never said, 'I have a dream, and oh yea, fuck whitey.' Even though he had every right to say it at the time. That's not the way to approach matters. If that's how you do it then you're no different than the ku klux klan on the opposite side of the spectrum. I agree 100% with Tim Wise, but I' am not certain destroying the white race will justify anything.
