This is a video inspired by Koyannisquatsi by Phillip Glass. All of the footage was filmed on St. Patricks Day 2009 very early in the morning. Most of the footage is from Millenium Park in downtown Chicago except for the two sunrises which were from the North Shore. I edited the footage in Premiere, and did some color correction, frame blending, and time echoing in Aftereffects. Footage was shot with a Canon HV-30 w/wide angle lens.

  • Cool !

  • j'ai du la regarder pour le college et c'est pas le top

  • Absolutely beautiful video!! Depicts Chicago perfectly. Would be a great music video for Lupe Fiasco or Kanye West i think. Keep em coming!!

  • what's this movement/piece of Koyannisquatsi called? i can't find it. great editing though, i fave'd it :)

  • beautiful!

  • h and how'd you get that ghostly effect for some of the shots? When the people are walking they seem to be transparent.

  • Awesome video, man! I have a question though regarding time lapse shooting. How many tapes or how long does/did it take for most of the scenes here to be shot? I'm in Milwaukee and want to do something similar but in terms of preparing for it do you have any advice? How many tapes and batteries should I bring along for instance?

  • awesome great job

  • It amuses me to think that if we, as humans, observe insects in their natural state we see that their general movements are erratic and extremely quick. Now, if we observe other human beings on a regular basis (and we do), their movements appear to be at normal speed because of the physical proportions that relate us. However, when we watch humans appearing to move at a higher speed, such as in this video, the whole ebb and flow of their actions becomes strikingly insect-like in nature.
