@31pockets i have this problem where i cant install 64 bit windows 7, it keeps saying my system is X86 machine . I bought my Dell E521 with OEM vista 32 bit, now im thinking have Dell blocked this PC to only 32 bit, how do i remove it? do i have to remove the pre installed dell 2GB ram for it to go away so i can install 64 bit with no errors? . I mean my processors are AMD 64 X2 - thats 64 bit right?

Is it possible to put a dual-core into this computer or do you have to stay with a single-core

@HungeryDead
You can't use a dual core processor in this computer, only a single core. You can use a Pentium 4 series 5xx or 6xx processor. The highest processor that you can use is the P4 670 3.8GHZ which is what I put in mine.

I have a Dell Dimension 5150 it came with a intel D cpu would you recomend staying with that or using the intel 4 i no it has 3.8 ghz but i think its older, i havnt checked my current cpu's speed but i imagine it is somewhere around 3 ghz any advice would be appreciated.

@brettfavre67 If its a Pentium D that would usually mean its a dual core and would be better than the 3.8GHz single core P4, I have seen a few Pentium D series 5150 for sale on eBay sometimes but there very rare and not sure the history on them. The 3.8GHz makes a super upgrade for an older P4 single core PC along with memory.

@brettfavre67 Another thing that can help with HD video editing is to change the operating system to 64 bit windows and change the bios setting but, theres more cost involved with that. I also use a Dell XPS 400 with a Pentium D 3.6GHz dual core and 4 gigs of ram, but these two PCs are set in the legacy mode in the bios and convert to 32 bit even though operation is 64 bit with these fast CPUs.

i think you should of left the3.0 cpu alone and just upgraded your memory first and your hard drive speed has a lot to do with performance 5400 rpm vs 7200 rpm ? & the video card.......how much was that new 3.8 cpu...thanks 31 pockets

@PGXI Hi PGXI,
Thanks for your comment, the 3.0 CPU runs very fast for most general PC operations along with my older dell GX270s.
Now when editing videos running at 1080p to allow a clearer video to upload to youtube
Thats where the 3.0 CPU crash and burns, stalls and falls over on its face, know memory or hard drive speed in the world can keep that from happening.
